Critiques

:iconrbeebephoto:
I'm one of those photo-image makers who abide by the idea that the middle of the image (the old "focusing circle" of 35mm days) was reserved for "God" or an equally higher entity, and encouraged our students of the time to keer their composing attention outside this area...thus forcing them to actually think about their composition effort. The reasoning being that stuffing whatever caught the photographer's attention dead-center was an awfully lazy way of framing an image...no different or better than a basic, commonplace snapshot.

On occasion, even with a strong, primary element in the photograph IN that sacred place, something dramatic and visually exciting comes to pass. My first viewing of the thumbnail for this was that it was a piece of artwork (painting, etc.)!

While that setting sun is tossed into that valued middle spot, it doesn't exclusively catch - and hold on to - the viewers' eye as a static image. Your scene has plenty of wonderful "eye candy" to entertain the beholder - from the "theatrical" contrast between warm and cool colors; to the contrast of backlighted textures between the four unique quarters: the soft clouds, the water's waves, the damaged-over-time weathered concrete, the building-front vertical wall, with the steel lattice tower playing with that sunset.

Overall...everything works, and works WELL with your framing!

Nicely done!

Believe me. Sometimes when life looks to be at its grimmest, there's a light, hidden at the heart of things...

I would love to be here at this scene! I love the hue and intesity of the sunset, it is gorgeous. Beautiful composition. This brings out such a happy, cheerful and relaxed emotion. Great stuff!

If I could only smell it, it would be just like being there. Beautifully done. :)
