Artist's Comments

Venice floods over 200 times a year. Here just an inch or two of water is coming up through a few drains as the tide rises to provide this reflection.

at some parts the reflection is quite more interesting than the original. at the top of the building, where the big light is for example.

That is absolutely gorgeous.
It would be wonderful on its own, but the reflection sets a really beautiful surreal mood.

Stunning view, the reflection makes it really outstanding! The archs make think of the teeth of a zipper :giggle: My favorite detail is how that bright marquee accentuates the people in the café. Is that a drain with water welling up in front of the tables?

Just a question: What kind of tripod are you using? 'cos I need a new one.

This is what I dont like of Venice... "The Floods".
Its said that the water come up to flood the Piazza San Marcos, from time to time, sometimes reaching high levels, forcing the villagers to use ther Gondolas! That for me is very spooky!! :ohnoes:

And this photo made me feel it... its a very communicative photo, I almost feel there in the flood... and its a weird sensation! Its fenomenal...!!!

Well, Thank You,

I don't think any 'villagers' own gondolas....they cost around $15,000 each nowadays. :-)
The water requires the council to put up walkways many times a year. The planks and legs for these are stacked up all over town ready for use.
